Hi, my name is Jülide.

I am a posthuman feminist living in the Netherlands. You can join me on this website to explore the pulsations of this vibrant Earth.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Culture and a Research Master's in Gender Studies, both from Utrecht University. My academic journey has led me to specialize in the nuanced interplay between media and cultural theory, focusing on the entangled struggles pertaining to gender, race, sexuality, class, body politics, post/decolonial thought, and practice. These foundational areas of expertise are complemented by my proactive efforts to deepen my understanding and application of posthumanism, new materialism, decolonial thought, and Indigenous Studies. This blend of formal education and self-directed learning equips me with a multidimensional perspective on contemporary social issues, enabling me to critically analyze and engage with complex cultural phenomena through an informed and intersectional lens.  As we cannot think about ourselves without the invisible vibrant bond between us and more-than-humans, I prefer calling my feminism a posthuman one, which acknowledges nonhumans as agents of resistance and resilience. This website invites you to not only expand your perspective on feminism but also aims to give you a glimpse of what more-than-humans are doing in this world.

In this regard, it might be a good moment to have a look at my thesis, Sustaining Resistance, Cultivating Liberation: The Enduring Bond of Rooted-Resistance-Companionship between Palestinians and Olive Trees.  This thesis focuses on transnational and transspecies solidarity with olive trees and Palestinians. It insists on human and more-than-human co-existence and resistance against the Zionist settler colonial regime and invites the reader to acknowledge olive trees' wisdom and Palestinians' indigenous relationality with olive trees. I am humbled and honored to share that this thesis received The Hélène Phoa Thesis Prize. You can read my interview here.

I read and write about ecology, dwellings, and being-withs of humans and more-than-human worlds. You can find book recommendations, book reviews, and articles about this and that here. You can join one of my reading groups or form a reading group/ workshop with me.

I read, write, play piano, love silence and laughter, and embrace pain and suffering. Birds, olive trees, and seashells guide me in breathing this life.

If you are interested in learning how to weave this life from more-than-humans, I warmly invite you to stay around.
